Pest and Disease Management

Pesticides such as herbicides, fungicides and rodenticides are widely used in land-based industries. Because they are potentially harmful substances, it’s essential that they are handled, applied and stored properly.

Courses are available at foundation and advanced levels.

PA1 Safe Use of Pesticides Course

Our one day NPTC Course is for those employed within the agricultural, amenity or horticultural industries, and those responsible for the storage, handling and application of pesticides.

PA2(a) Boom Sprayer Course

Our one day NPTC Boom Sprayer (hydraulic nozzle) course is for anyone who uses vehicle mounted / trailer boom-spraying equipment (hydraulic nozzle) as part of their work.

PA4(s) Granular Applicators Course

Our one day NPTC course is suitable for those who intend to use mounted or trailed dispersal systems to distribute slug pellets, as well as those working under Grandfather Rights exemptions, which are due to expire on 26th November 2015.

PA6A Handheld Applicators Course

Our one day NPTC course in handheld applicators is delivered by an experienced instructor who will help attendees develop their knowledge of health and safety requirements and further their continuous professional development.

NRoSO Workshops

This half day NRoSO workshop is for members of National Register of Sprayer Operators who will receive 10 CPD points, a comprehensive delegate workbook and a range of relevant supporting materials.

Rodent Control on Farms Course

This one day LANTRA Award course in rodent control will cover the effective and responsible use of bait rodenticides.  On successful completion candidates will be issued with a certificate enabling them to purchase professional products for outdoor use.

Use of Aluminium Phosphide for Vertebrate Pest Control Course

This one day LANTRA Awards ‘Safe Use of Aluminium Phosphide for Vertebrate Pest Control’ qualification is aimed at anyone who wishes to control vertebrates using aluminium phosphide in a commercial environment and is suitable for pest control operatives, farmers, gamekeepers and green keepers.

Grandfather Rights Course

Our one day NPTC course is a shorter version of the Pesticide Application assessment and is for candidates who will no longer benefit from ‘grandfather rights’ but wish to use Plant Protection Products on their own land.
